1952 Jan van Riebeeck Commemorative Issue

This set of four stamps features a uniform design depicting a portrait of Jan van Riebeeck, facing left, with his name and life years (1619-1677) inscribed below. Each stamp has its specific denomination clearly visible in the bottom right corner.
Issued in 1952, these stamps commemorate the 300th anniversary of Jan van Riebeeck's arrival at the Cape of Good Hope. Van Riebeeck was a Dutch colonial administrator who founded the Cape Colony, which later became modern-day South Africa.
