Netherlands · 1970 · 12c+8c, 15c+10c, 20c+10c, 25c+15c, 45c+20c
This set of five semi-postal stamps, known as 'Zomerzegels' or Summer Stamps, features colorful, child-like drawings of traditional toys. The designs include a spinning top, a doll, a hobby horse, a toy car, and building blocks. The surtax on these stamps was used to support social and cultural work in the Netherlands.
Issued annually, the Dutch Summer Stamps of 1970 continued a long-standing tradition of raising funds for charitable causes through the sale of postage with a surtax.
