Netherlands 1950 Child Welfare Semi-Postal Stamps
Netherlands · 1950 · 2+2c, 5+3c, 6+4c, 10+5c, 20+5c
This set of five semi-postal stamps was issued for the annual child welfare fund. Each stamp features a portrait of a Dutch royal child at a different age: Princess Beatrix (age 12), Princess Irene (age 11), Princess Margriet (age 7), and Princess Marijke (Christina) (age 3). The highest value stamp depicts Queen Juliana holding an infant Princess Marijke.
Issued during the post-war reconstruction period under Queen Juliana's reign, these annual charity stamps were a popular way to raise funds for children's social and health services in the Netherlands.
