This is a postage due stamp from the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria. The design features a large numeral '1' indicating the one penny denomination, framed by an ornate design with the country name at the top and 'POSTAGE DUE' at the bottom.

Issued during the reign of King Edward VIII, these stamps were used to collect unpaid or underpaid postage from the recipient of a letter. This series was the first postage due issue for Nigeria.
