King George V, Nigeria and Cameroons

This stamp features a three-quarter portrait of King George V, facing left, set within an ornate oval frame. The design is a classic example of British colonial key plate issues, with the country name 'NIGERIA AND CAMEROONS' inscribed at the top and the denomination 'HALF PENNY' at the bottom.

Issued in 1914, this was the first postage stamp of the newly amalgamated Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria. It marks the unification of the Northern and Southern Nigeria Protectorates under British rule.
