Federation of Malaya Independence Day

Malaysia · 1957 · 10 sen

This stamp commemorates the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British rule. The design features a central portrait of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister, set against a map of the Malayan peninsula. The flags of the eleven states of the Federation are arranged in an arc above the portrait.

Issued on August 31, 1957, this was the very first postage stamp of the newly independent Federation of Malaya, which would later become Malaysia in 1963. It marks a pivotal moment in the nation's history.
