This round, provisional stamp features 'HAMILTON BERMUDA' hand-stamped around its edge, with handwritten text and the year 1848 in the center. It was issued by Postmaster William Bennett Perot to facilitate postage in Bermuda.
Known as a 'Perot' stamp, this is one of only eleven known surviving examples, with only three issued in 1848, making it an iconic rarity in philately.
