Lithuania 1921 Madagascar Project Essay

Lithuania · 1921 · 10 Skatikų

This is an unissued essay for a proposed Lithuanian colony in Madagascar. The design features a map of Madagascar with the proposed Lithuanian territory highlighted, alongside the Lithuanian coat of arms, the Vytis. The denomination is shown as 10 Skatikų.

In the late 1930s, some Lithuanian figures, notably Kazys Pakštas, promoted the idea of establishing a 'backup Lithuania' or colony abroad, with Madagascar being one of the considered locations. These stamp essays were created in 1921 but the project never materialized.
