Montenegro Government-in-Exile Postage Due Stamps (Unissued)
Montenegro · 1921 · Various (10 Para to 2 Dinara)
This set of seven unissued postage due stamps was prepared for the Montenegrin government-in-exile. The design features the denomination centrally within an ornate, rectangular frame, typical of postage due issues of the period. These stamps were never put into postal use due to the political situation following World War I.
Following its annexation by the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia) in 1918, the Montenegrin government-in-exile continued to assert its sovereignty, which included preparing postage stamps that were ultimately never issued.
