This is the first postage stamp issued for Spanish Morocco. It features a definitive stamp of Spain from 1909 depicting King Alfonso XIII, which has been overprinted with 'TETUAN' and surcharged with a new value of '10 Centimos'. The overprint signifies its use within the Spanish protectorate.

Issued shortly after the 1912 Treaty of Fes established the Spanish protectorate in northern Morocco, this stamp marks the beginning of a separate postal administration for the territory, centered in Tetuán.
