US-Morocco Friendship Treaty Bicentennial

United States · 1987 · 22c

This stamp commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Amity between the United States and Morocco. The design features the flags of both nations above the Kasbah of the Udayas in Rabat, Morocco. It was the first joint issue between the two countries and the 18th overall for the United States.

Issued in 1987, this stamp celebrates the longest unbroken treaty relationship in U.S. history, signed in 1786. Morocco was one of the first nations to recognize the newly independent United States.
