Italian Libya 1915 Postage Due Issue
Italian Libya · 1915 · Various (5c - 2L)
This series of postage due stamps features a simple, functional design centered around a large numeral indicating the value, framed by ornate scrollwork. The text "SEGNATASSE" at the top identifies them as postage due, with "LIBIA" inscribed at the bottom. The stamps were printed in two colors, with the frame in carmine and the central value in blue.
Issued under Italian colonial rule, these were the first postage due stamps for Italian Libya. They were created by overprinting contemporary Italian postage due stamps with "LIBIA" to serve the postal needs of the newly established colony.
