Lithuania 1918 First Issue, 10 skatikų

Lithuania · 1918 · 10 skatikų

This is the first postage stamp issued by Lithuania following its declaration of independence. The design is simple and typographic, featuring the denomination '10' within a patterned circle, with 'LIETUVOS PAŠTA' (Lithuanian Post) and 'SKATIKŲ' inscribed around it. This provisional issue was printed in Vilnius on rough, grayish paper.

Issued in December 1918, this stamp marks the birth of Lithuania's postal system as a sovereign nation after breaking away from the Russian and German Empires at the end of World War I.
