This is the first postage stamp issued by the newly independent Republic of Lithuania. The design is simple, featuring the denomination "10" within a patterned oval frame, with "LIETUVOS PAŠTA" (Lithuanian Post) inscribed above and the denomination in words "DEŠIMTS SKATIKŲ" below. It was printed on the back of unfinished German military maps due to paper shortages following World War I.
