Lebanon Airmail, Surcharge on French Levant Stamp

Lebanon · 1924 · 3 Piastres on 15 Centimes

This is Lebanon's first airmail stamp, created by overprinting a contemporary French Levant definitive stamp. The original design features a seated allegorical figure, which is now overprinted in red with 'Grand Liban', 'Avion', and a small airplane silhouette, along with a new denomination of 3 Piastres.

Issued in 1924 under the French Mandate, this stamp marks the beginning of airmail services in Lebanon, reflecting the growing importance of aviation for postal communication in the post-World War I era.
