Lebanon 1945 Airmail Semi-Postal Stamp, Inverted Surcharge
Lebanon · 1945 · 100p on 25p
This semi-postal airmail stamp features a surcharge of '100 Piastres' over the original 25 Piastres denomination. The design shows a cedar tree, a national symbol of Lebanon, with an airplane flying overhead. This particular variety is a rare error where the red surcharge was applied upside down.
Issued in 1945, this stamp was part of a series to raise funds for the Lebanese Air Force, shortly after the country gained full independence in 1943. Inverted surcharge errors are highly sought after by collectors.
