This is the first postage stamp issued by the Kingdom of Laos. The design features a portrait of King Sisavang Vong, who reigned from 1904 until his death in 1959. The stamp is inscribed 'ROYAUME DU LAOS' (Kingdom of Laos) and 'POSTES' (Postage).

Issued in 1951, this stamp marks Laos's postal independence within the French Union, shortly after it was granted self-rule as an associated state in 1949.
