This stamp features the Mugunghwa, or Rose of Sharon, the national flower of South Korea. The design is simple, with the flower centrally depicted, framed by the denomination and country name in both Hangul and English script. It was part of the first definitive series issued by the US Military Government in Korea.

Issued shortly after the liberation of Korea from Japanese rule, this stamp represents an early step in establishing a distinct national identity for South Korea under the US Army Military Government in Korea (USAMGIK).
