Korean Empire, Falcon on Perch
Korea · 1903 · 3 Chon
This stamp features a striking design of a falcon perched on a stand, a symbol of prestige and power. The design is framed by an ornate border incorporating the plum blossom crest (Ihwamun), the symbol of the Korean Empire. The denomination '3 Chon' is inscribed in both Hanja (Chinese characters) and the native Korean Hangul script.
Issued during the final years of the Korean Empire under Emperor Gojong, this series was printed in Paris. It represents one of the last philatelic issues before Japan's increasing influence culminated in the annexation of Korea in 1910.
