This complete airmail set features five beautifully illustrated birds of prey native to Cambodia. The designs depict a Brahminy Kite (1r), a White-bellied Sea Eagle (2r), a Crested Serpent Eagle (3r), a Black Baza (4r), and a Grey-headed Fish Eagle (5r). The stamps were issued to facilitate airmail correspondence.
Issued in 1961 during the Sangkum Reastr Niyum period under Prince Norodom Sihanouk, this set reflects a time of relative peace and cultural development in Cambodia before the turmoil of the late 1960s and 1970s.
