Cambodia State Emblem
Cambodia · 1951 · 1p
This stamp features the Royal Arms of Cambodia, the official coat of arms of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The design includes two royal five-tiered umbrellas, a sacred sword, and the Khmer symbol for Aum, all resting on two stacked phan. The arms are supported by two mythical creatures, the gajasingha (a lion with an elephant trunk) and the singha (a lion).
Issued in 1951, this definitive stamp was part of a series released during the period when Cambodia was still a protectorate within French Indochina, shortly before gaining full independence in 1953.
