King George V Definitives
Kenya · 1922 · 1c - £1
This definitive series features a left-facing profile portrait of King George V, set within an ornate frame. The design is a classic example of British colonial philately, with the country name 'KENYA AND UGANDA' inscribed at the top and the denomination at the bottom. The stamps were printed by De La Rue & Co. on paper with the 'Script CA' watermark.
Issued for use in the combined territories of Kenya and Uganda, this series reflects the period of British colonial administration in East Africa following World War I. These were the first stamps to bear the name 'Kenya' after it was declared a British Crown Colony in 1920.
