King George V Definitives, Kenya and Uganda
Kenya · 1922 · 1c
This definitive stamp features a left-facing portrait of King George V, set within an ornate oval frame. The design, known as the 'Mackennal' profile, was common across the British Empire. The country name 'KENYA AND UGANDA' is inscribed at the top, with the denomination '1 CENT' at the bottom.
Issued in 1922, this was the first stamp series for the newly formed Kenya Colony and Protectorate, which had previously been part of the East Africa and Uganda Protectorates. The stamps were valid for use in both Kenya and Uganda.
