This definitive stamp features the Icelandic coat of arms, crowned and set within an ornate oval frame. The design is dominated by a split stockfish, a traditional symbol of Iceland's fishing industry and heritage. The denomination '5 AUR' is displayed at the bottom, with 'ÍSLAND' inscribed at the top.

Issued under Danish rule, this series replaced the bicolored Christian IX issues and was one of the first to feature a distinctly Icelandic national symbol, reflecting a growing sense of national identity.
