This is one of the first postage due stamps issued for Iraq under the British Mandate. The design is purely typographic, featuring the denomination '1 ANNA' prominently in the center, with 'IRAQ' and 'POSTAGE DUE' inscribed above and below. The value is also shown in Arabic script in the corners.

Issued during the British Mandate of Mesopotamia, this stamp represents the establishment of a formal postal system after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in the region following World War I.
