Ireland · 1944 ·

The 1944 tercentenary of the death of Mícheál Ó Cléirigh was marked by commemorative Irish postage stamps issued by the Irish Department of Posts and Telegraphs on 30 June 1944, designed by Richard J. King showing Ó Cléirigh writing the word Annála 'Annals' (i.e. the Annals of the Four Masters , which he edited) under the Annals' famous motto Do ċum glóire Dé ⁊ onóra na hÉireann "for the glory of God and the honour of Ireland". The 1 ⁄ 2 d and 1s denomination stamps became definitive issues until 1968. [ 1 ]
