This set of three stamps commemorates the 50th anniversary of the deaths of three Irish patriots during the War of Independence. The stamps feature portraits of Tomás MacCurtain, Lord Mayor of Cork; Terence MacSwiney, his successor who died on hunger strike; and Kevin Barry, a young medical student executed for his role in an ambush. The designs are simple yet powerful portraits against solid color backgrounds.
