This set of two stamps was issued to promote tourism in Indonesia. The 15 Rupiah stamp features the Borobudur Temple, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java. The 20 Rupiah stamp depicts the Prambanan Temple, a 9th-century Hindu temple compound, also in Central Java.

Issued during the 'New Order' era under President Suharto, these stamps were part of a broader government effort to develop the tourism industry and showcase Indonesia's rich cultural and historical heritage to the world.
