Hungary Magyar Posta, Coat of Arms
Hungary · 1871 · 2 krajczár
This stamp features the Hungarian Coat of Arms, prominently displaying the Crown of Saint Stephen. The design is simple and functional, typical of early definitive issues, with the denomination '2' clearly visible in the corners and the inscription 'MAGYAR KIR. POSTA' (Hungarian Royal Post) at the top.
Issued in 1871, this was the very first postage stamp of Hungary following the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, which granted Hungary more autonomy and the right to issue its own stamps.
