Croatia 1941 Coat of Arms Imperforate Essays

Croatia · 1941 · Various (25b, 50b, 1k, 1.25k, 2k, 3.50k)

This is a set of six imperforate essays for the first definitive series of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH). The designs feature the Croatian coat of arms, the 'šahovnica' (chessboard), in various colors and denominations, including 25 Banica, 50 Banica, 1 Kuna, 1.25 Kuna, 2 Kuna, and 3.50 Kuna. As essays, these were test prints and were not issued for postal use.

These essays were prepared in 1941 for the first stamp series of the newly formed Independent State of Croatia, a World War II Axis puppet state. They represent the initial philatelic issues of this short-lived political entity.
