Croatia 1941 Overprints Architectural Set
Croatia · 1941 · 1.50 Denara, 4+3 Denara
This set features two stamps from 1941, both overprinted on original Yugoslavian issues. The left stamp depicts a fortified gateway or castle entrance, while the right stamp showcases a prominent church or cathedral within a townscape. Both bear the 'DRŽAVA HRVATSKA' (State of Croatia) overprint along with new denominations.
These stamps were issued by the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) in 1941, following the Axis invasion and dismemberment of Yugoslavia during World War II. The overprints on existing Yugoslavian stamps served as a provisional measure to quickly establish the postal authority of the newly formed state.
