Hong Kong Queen Victoria Definitives, 1862

Hong Kong · 1862 · 2 Cents

This stamp features a left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria, based on a drawing by Alfred Edward Chalon. It was the first postage stamp issued by Hong Kong, printed by De La Rue in London. The design includes the colony's name at the top and the denomination in both English and Chinese characters at the bottom.

Issued during the British colonial period, this stamp marks the beginning of Hong Kong's postal history. It facilitated communication within the growing trade hub and across the British Empire.
