Hong Kong Queen Victoria Definitives

Hong Kong · 1862 · 2 Cents to 96 Cents

This series features a left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria, based on a drawing by Alfred Edward Chalon. The design, known as the 'Chalon Head', was common across many British colonies. The stamps are inscribed 'HONG KONG' at the top and the denomination in both English and Chinese characters at the bottom.

Issued in 1862, these were the first postage stamps of Hong Kong, marking the establishment of its independent postal system under British colonial rule. They remained in use for several decades with various changes in color and watermark.
