Greece: Themis Judicial Revenue Stamp
Greece · 1913 · 50 Lepta
This Greek revenue stamp features an allegorical depiction of Themis, the goddess of justice, holding scales and a sword. It is an overprint 'ΘΕΜΙΣ' (THEMIS) on a 1913 postage stamp, with a denomination of 50 Lepta.
Originally a 1913 postage stamp, this issue was overprinted 'THEMIS' to repurpose it as a judicial revenue stamp in Greece. This practice allowed governments to efficiently utilize existing stamp stock for fiscal purposes.
