This complete set of 15 stamps features the 1909 pictorial series overprinted in Amharic and French with 'Postes' and new values. The original designs depict portraits of Emperor Menelik II and Empress Zauditu, as well as the Lion of Judah, the national emblem.

Issued in 1919, these overprints were created to update the existing stamp stock with new denominations following Ethiopia's entry into the Universal Postal Union, reflecting a period of modernization in the country's postal system.
