Estonia 1941 German Occupation Overprints Set
Estonia · 1941 · Various (15k to 60k)
This set consists of six definitive stamps of the Soviet Union, originally issued in 1939, that were overprinted for use in Estonia during the German occupation in World War II. The overprint reads "EESTI POST" and features a new denomination. The original designs depict a miner, a pilot, a farmer, a soldier, and industrial scenes, reflecting Soviet ideals.
Issued in 1941 following the German invasion of the Soviet Union, these stamps represent the transition of control in Estonia during WWII. They were provisional issues, created by overprinting existing Soviet stock until new German administration stamps were available.
