Denmark 2 Rigsbank Skilling Blue Block of Four

Denmark · 1851 · 2 Rigsbank Skilling

This is a block of four of Denmark's second stamp, the 2 Rigsbank Skilling in blue, first issued on April 28, 1851. The design features a central numeral '2' and 'RIGSBANK SKILLING' within a circular frame, surrounded by 'KGL. POST FRIMÆRKE'. It was printed by the Royal printers, H.H. Thiele & Company.

As one of Denmark's first two postage stamps, this issue marks the beginning of the country's organized postal system. Multiples, especially intact blocks of four, are exceptionally rare and highly prized by philatelists, representing a significant piece of Danish postal history.
