This definitive series features a portrait of Paul von Hindenburg, the second President of Germany. The design, by Karl Goetz, shows Hindenburg in profile, facing right, within a simple frame. The series was issued in various denominations and colors to cover standard postal rates.

Issued in 1933, the year Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor, this series replaced the previous Weimar Republic definitives and remained in use during the early years of the Third Reich.
