Colombia Airmail, Scadta Consular Overprint
Colombia · 1921 · 10c
This stamp is part of the first series issued by SCADTA (Sociedad Colombo-Alemana de Transportes Aéreos), a pioneering airline in Colombia. The base stamp, originally a national issue, features a map of the department of Bolivar. It was overprinted in black with 'Servicio de Transportes Aéreos / Colombia / SCADTA' and a new value for use on airmail.
Issued in 1921, these SCADTA stamps represent one of the world's earliest and most successful private airmail services, predating many national airmail systems and revolutionizing mail delivery in Colombia's difficult terrain.
