Colombia 1920 SCADTA Airmail, Seaplane over Barranquilla

Colombia · 1920 · 10c

This stamp features a Junkers F.13 seaplane flying over the port city of Barranquilla, Colombia. It was the first airmail stamp issued by the private airline SCADTA (Sociedad Colombo Alemana de Transportes Aéreos) for its domestic airmail service. The design highlights the dawn of commercial aviation in South America.

Issued in 1920, this is considered the world's first regularly issued airmail stamp by a commercial airline. SCADTA's service revolutionized mail delivery in Colombia, drastically reducing transit times over difficult terrain.
