Empire of China Founding Commemoration 5 Yuan Specimen Stamp

Empire of China · 1916 · 5 Yuan

The stamp features a portrait of Yuan Shikai, dressed in military uniform, facing left. The denomination '伍圓' (Five Yuan) is at the bottom, and the country name '中華帝國郵票' (Empire of China Post) is at the top.

These stamps were prepared for the short-lived Empire of China (1915-1916) under Yuan Shikai, who attempted to restore monarchy after the Xinhai Revolution. However, the empire collapsed before the stamps could be officially issued, making them unissued or specimen items.
