The Whole Country is Red
China · 1968 · 8 fen
This famous stamp features a map of China printed in red with a worker, peasant, and soldier holding copies of Mao's "Little Red Book". It is a celebrated error stamp because the island of Taiwan, claimed by the People's Republic of China, was left uncolored. The stamp was quickly withdrawn from sale on the day of its issue, making it exceptionally scarce.
Issued during the Cultural Revolution, this stamp was intended to symbolize the revolutionary spirit spreading across the entire nation. Its withdrawal due to the politically sensitive map error has made it one of the most sought-after stamps in modern Chinese philately.
