This stamp is part of the iconic "Junk" series, the first definitive issue of the Republic of China. The central design features a traditional Chinese junk sailing on the water, framed by an ornate border with the denomination. This particular stamp is the 1/2 cent value from the first printing in Peking (Beijing).
Issued in 1913, this series replaced the imperial dragon designs following the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912. The stamps were printed by the Chinese Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Peking.
