This set of two airmail stamps commemorates the 400th anniversary of the death of Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes and the 400th anniversary of the birth of Spanish poet Alonso de Ercilla y Zúñiga. The 10 centavos stamp features a portrait of Cervantes, author of 'Don Quixote', while the 20 centavos stamp depicts Ercilla, author of the epic poem 'La Araucana' about the Arauco War in Chile.
