King George V 'Arch' Issue
Canada · 1930 · 1¢ Orange
This definitive stamp features a portrait of King George V, facing left, framed by an ornate arch design. The portrait is based on a photograph by Lafayette. The denomination '1' is displayed in each of the bottom corners, with 'CANADA' at the top and 'POSTAGE' at the bottom.
Issued as part of the 'Arch' definitive series, this stamp was a workhorse of Canadian mail during the early years of the Great Depression. It replaced the previous 'Scroll' issue of King George V.
