Canada 3 Cents Queen Victoria 'Large Queen'

Canada · 1868 · 3 Cents

This stamp features a right-facing portrait of Queen Victoria, based on a photograph by Alexander Bassano. Known as the 'Large Queen' issue, it is celebrated for its fine engraving and classic design. The denomination 'THREE CENTS' is inscribed at the bottom, with 'CANADA POSTAGE' arching over the portrait.

Issued in 1868, this was one of the first stamps released by the newly formed Dominion of Canada, following the Confederation of 1867. The Large Queens series replaced the provincial issues and established a unified postal system for the new nation.
