Belgium 1849 10c 'Termonde' Inverted Center
Belgium · 1849 · 10c
This stamp is a famous error from Belgium's first definitive series, known as the 'Epaulettes'. It features a portrait of King Leopold I, but the central vignette is printed upside down in relation to the frame. The error occurred during the printing of the 10 centimes brown denomination.
Issued just nine years after the world's first postage stamp, this error is a classic of early European philately and represents a significant printing mistake from the dawn of stamp production.
