Belgium 1851 Inverted Dendermonde
Belgium · 1851 · 65c
This stamp features the coat of arms of the city of Dendermonde (Termonde in French) within an ornate frame. It is famous for a rare printing error where the central design was printed upside down relative to the frame. The error occurred on two sheets of the 65 centimes brown stamp, creating one of the most sought-after rarities in Belgian philately.
Issued as part of the second series of Belgian stamps, this error stamp highlights the occasional imperfections in early stamp production processes, which have since become prized by collectors.
