This set of eight stamps was the first definitive issue of the newly independent nation of Bangladesh. The designs depict key symbols and events of the Bangladesh Liberation War, including a map of the country, the Dacca University massacre, the flag of independence, and a portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The stamps were designed by Biman Mullick and printed in London.
Issued on July 29, 1971, during the Liberation War, these stamps served as a declaration of sovereignty and a tool to raise international awareness for the cause of an independent Bangladesh.
