Bosnia and Herzegovina 1918 Overprint Issue
Bosnia and Herzegovina · 1918 · Various (2h to 10K)
This set comprises 16 definitive stamps from the 1910 Emperor Franz Joseph I issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina, overprinted with '1918'. The overprint was applied to existing stock following the end of World War I and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The original stamps featured various designs including portraits of the Emperor and scenic views of Bosnia.
Issued in the immediate aftermath of World War I, these overprints mark the transition from Austro-Hungarian administration to the formation of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, which would soon become part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
